Features:
1) Versatile amino-functional coupling agent used over a broad
range of applications to provide superior bonds between
inorganic substrates and organic polymers
2) The primary amine function reacts with a wide array of thermoset,
thermoplastic and elastomeric materials
3) Molecular formula: H2NCH2CH2
CH2Si(OCH3)3
4) Appearance: clear, pale liquid
5) Molecular weight: 0.95
6) Specific gravity (25/25oC): 220 (428)
7) Refractive index (ND 25oC): 1.42
8) Flash point (Pensky-Martens closed cup): 96oC (205oF)
9) Solubility:
a) Completely and immediately soluble in water (with reaction),
alcohol, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons
b) Ketomes are not recommended as dilutants
c) Hydrolysis is noticeably exothermic and releases ethanol
10) Applications and performance:
a) Coatings, adhesives and sealants:
i) Excellent adhesion promoter in acrylic coatings, adhesives
and sealants
ii) With polysulfide, urethane, RTV silicones, epoxy, nitrile and
phenolic adhesives and sealants, this product improves
pigment dispersion and maximizes adhesion to glass,
aluminium and steel
b) Glass-reinforced resin systems:
i) Enhances flexural, compressive and interlaminar shear
strengths before and after exposure to humidity
ii) Can greatly improve wet electrical properties
iii) Glass-reinforced thermoplastics, polyamides, polyesters
and polycarbonates exhibit increased flexural and tensile
strength before and after wet exposure when this silane is
used
c) Glass fiber and mineral wool insulation: as a phenolic resin
binder additive, this silane imparts moisture resistance and
allows recovery after compression
d) Mineral-filled resin systems:
i) Maximizes the physical and electrical properties of mineral-
filled phenolics, epoxies, polyamides, polybutylene
terephthalate and a host of other thermosetting and
thermoplastic composites
ii) Improved filler wetting and dispersibility in the polymer matrix
e) Grinding wheels: promotes and improves water-resistant bond
between the abrasive grit and phenolic resin binder
